________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Suchitoto was founded at the time of Spanish colonization in America, its historical significance has marked Suchitoto as a privileged city through out time, indigenous settlements prior to colonization, large indigo producing farms during the colonization, the creation of the Suchitlán Lake by the construction of the dam Cerrón Grande in the 70s, important guerrilla stronghold during the historic civil war in the 80s, that ended with the signing of the peace agreements in 1992 and abandonment by the majority of its residents. Currently and thanks to the good condition of many old colonial style structures and their surroundings and the artistic and cultural aspects of the city, Suchitoto has become one of the countries favorite destination for both national and foreign travelers.

Within this local environment the concept of El Necio was born to compliment the other businesses in the city with transversal approaches to promote the history, culture, and alternative tourism as comprehensive activities to rescue the past and recent history, to help create, maintain and increase our cities identity. From its founding the concept was nurtured by a group of colleagues committed to our history and Suchitoto, in harmony with the development of human beings and nature. Today these values and principles continue as principle factors in the New Cafe Bar and Museum El Necio now part owned and managed by Robert Broz and his wife Tita.
